Cheshire Neighbours Credit Union Limited (CNCU) spent 5 years from 2020 trying to contact members and close their accounts. Despite their best efforts some members could not be contacted. It is unlikely that these members will be contacted in future or will contact CNCU. Therefore the board of CNCU agreed to approach the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

On 21 October 2025 Cheshire Neighbours Credit Union Limited (CNCU) was declared in default and ceased trading. If you had an account with CNCU and the money you held in your account was not returned to you by CNCU, at any point before 21 October 2025, please do not worry, your money is safe and will be repaid to you by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If you haven’t received a cheque or heard from FSCS within seven working days, please contact FSCS at enquiries@fscs.org.uk
